How do I set up Private Proxy?
Just install the software to your computer and once installed, you will be prompted to enter your username and password then press Activate. Activate will verify your username and password on the server and at that point your IP Address will be hidden.
Can I use my subscription on more than one computer?
You can use Private Proxy on as many computers as you want but it will only allow one connection per Username and Password so you can only use it on one computer at a time.
How do I change my username and password?
Your username and password is tied to a third party billing company and is unchangeable. If you wish to change it, you will need to cancel your service and then sign up again with a new username and password.
How can I hide or change my IP Address?
With Private Proxy, all you have to do is enter your Username and Password then press the Activate button to connect to the Private Proxy server and have your IP Address masked.
Why is there a list of website names for me to choose from?
This is mainly needed for those users that are in an office environment where their IT department monitors their network traffic. If the IT department becomes suspicious of a URL address, they may block that specific website name. If they do this, you can choose another website name and they will never know you are still using an anonymous proxy.
What encryption is Private Proxy using?
Private Proxy uses 128-bit SSH encryption
I see my real IP instead of the masked one under Private Proxy. What happened?
You may have lost your Private Proxy connection. You should close Private Proxy then launch it again.
If you are using Internet Explorer, you need to go to Tools - Internet Options - Connections Tab - Lan Settings and turn on Automatically Detect Settings within Internet Explorer.
If you are using Firefox, you need to go to Tools - Options - Advanced - Network Tab - Settings under Connection and turn on Auto-detect proxy settings for this network or try Direct connection to the Internet within Firefox.
Why does Private Proxy close my open browser window when it is started or stopped?
This is to prevent any confusion as to whether your IP address is blocked or not. If a browser window were left open after Private Proxy was launched, that particular window would not be blocked therefore it is safer to close the browser window.
How do I verify that my IP address is hidden?
After starting your web browser from Private Proxy, go to one of these websites, www.showip.com, www.whatismyip.com and you should see your masked IP address.
